Latest Updates from Our Project:

Update #64 - Global Fulfilment Complete - Thank You
5 months ago – Thu, Jun 13, 2024 at 03:22:35 AM

Hi all,

Welcome back to our final monthly update! As our project has now come to an end, we'll be reserving future updates for important Heroes of the Shire information only. Below is a status update on the conclusion of our campaign.

Fulfilment

We are thrilled to announce that our backer fulfilment should be complete across the globe! If you have not yet received your game, please reach out to us as soon as possible.

We are currently in the process of relocating excess stock from Asia and Australia back to the UK and the US, where most of our sales originate. If you are an existing backer living in Australia or Asia and would like a second copy of the game or any add-ons, we can offer you a great discount before we ship our remaining products back. Please get in touch with us right away, as we aim to finalize this stock relocation by next week.

If you contact us regarding your pledge after we have completed the stock relocation, we will still be able to ship your pledge. However, please note that additional shipping fees may apply, for example, if we need to send a game to Australia from the UK.

UKGE

We’ve just returned from the UK Games Expo, where we had Heroes of the Shire on sale for the first time! The show was incredibly busy, with a record-breaking 65,000 guests over the three days. We sold out of games each day, but as it happened, our fulfilment company were also at the show, so we were able to pester them to bring us more stock each morning of the show :)

Throughout the event, we made many great connections with backers, pre-orders, late pledges, and new customers. On Saturday evening, after the exhibition halls closed, we roamed the halls to see if we could find anyone playing Heroes of the Shire. To our delight, we found a group immediately! We sat down with these players from Spain, who turned out to be representatives of a Spanish publisher interested in publishing Heroes of the Shire in Spanish. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development. We also hope to collaborate with them during our next Kickstarter campaign to ensure the Spanish version is ready for launch simultaneously with the English version

Chaos Cards, a major UK retailer picked up a copy of our game at the UKGE and did an unboxing video of the Collectors Editions on their YouTube channel. You can see that video here:

Board Game Geek

Now that fulfilment is complete, many of you will be cracking open your game boxes and getting Heroes of the Shire to your tables. We've seen many of you doing just that, as photos and descriptions of your games have been shared with us and the community on our Discord channel.

We kindly ask once you've played our game a few times and have a feel for it, that you rate our game on BGG.com. Your ratings will help validate our game and guide us in determining how much time/finances to invest in developing more products for this title.

Project Financial Breakdown

We’ve had many of our amazing backers reach out to us for insights on game design and project management, so we’re breaking down our entire project to shed some light for any budding designers out there.

Total raised: £166,000

Expenses:

  • £7,900: Kickstarter Fees
  • £20,000: Backerkit (marketing, fees, pledge manager setup, account manager, etc.)
  • £64,000: Fulfilment (individual backer fulfilment, freight shipping)
  • £12,000: Artist (concept art, external artist)
  • £50,000: Manufacturing
  • £2,000: Child Safety Certification
  • £3,600: Refunds/Cancellations
  • £7,500: General costs of running a company (accountant, taxes, software, marketing, direct debits, exchange rates, etc.)
  • £5,000: Marketing (social media adverts, exhibitions)

    Subtotal of costs: £172,000
    Funds raised so far: £166,000
    Debt: £6,000

Stock left over if sold at 50% MSRP: £18,000

Potential profit once all stock has sold: £10,000 - £12,000

If I were to take an average salary for a resident in the UK (£26,000 per year), I should be owed £78,000 from the company, which means the company would be in significant debt. This is why all of my work was done for free!

There is a lot more here than meets the eye. Like all start ups, businesses typically take a loss in the first few years and then expands from there. Our second print run would offer a much better chance of making a profit due to many of the expenses already being outlaid. So, while the above might look a little like doom and gloom, we see the potential here, which is why we’re happy to keep pushing forward.

Continued Support

While most of you have had your pledges delivered, you may now completely forget about us until our next campaign. However, we've made great friends with many of you over the years, and if you would like to continue to support us, here are a few tips that cost £0.

  • Become a Heroes of the Shire YouTuber :) We have lots of content for budding creators to dive into, ideal team compositions, boss mechanics, constructed PvP, drafting PvP and more. Once you've established yourself as a creator, we would try to help support you with promos/giveaways/prototypes etc.
  • Introduce our game to as many of your friends as possible. Take our game to your LGS to play, play our game at game nights, take our game to exhibitions and seek out other fans of Heroes of the Shire.
  • Tell your retailers/games cafes about us. Cafes, shops, retailers all talk, and if the game is not know to them, they can seek us out directly or they can try and find a distributor who stocks Heroes of the Shire. The more the distributors sell to retailers/shops the more demand we get from the distributor's and thus their order quantities increase.
  • Share and talk about us on social media.
  • Ask your favourite content creators to cover Heroes of the Shire.
  • Talk about us on BGG.

Board Game Retreat

In a previous business venture, i taught Yoga & Wellness, so i have had the luxury of visiting some wonderful venues across Europe and have organised many retreats before. I am planning to head back to one of these venues in 2025, but this time around with a group of board gamers instead! If any of our wonderful backers would be interested in joining us on a board games retreat, let us know! You can register your interest on this quick google form here: https://forms.gle/R892rRARuMD1P3i36

The destination would be an amazing 5 star resort on the Greek Island of Amorgos and i can say from 3 visits there that it's truly one of the most amazing venues I've ever visited. Food/Accommodation would be included alongside local transportation, but not flights. We've already made contact with the venue and they are more than happy for board gamers to enjoy their epic views.

Light & Shadow Expansion

We've had some of our new characters in development for our expansion of Heroes of the Shire for almost 2 years now. We have to develop the heroes earliest as the balancing of them takes 100's upon 100's of playtests, to ensure their fun/engaging and not to overpowered/weak. Other than new heroes, here's a little run down of things to expect in our next instalment for Heroes of the Shire.

  • Tactical movement system - moving standees around a map with tokens and effects happening round after round. This is to make trash mob battles more engaging and a way for us to add more boss mechanics to boss battles.
  • Individual hero quests - exploration journal, guiding each hero through their own mini-campaign to unlock their new master ability. This will give lots of story to each hero and a new fun take on scenario mode. This will also give much more functionality to the gorgeous artwork on the explored hexes.
  • Fourth spell mastery tree - adding more flexibility to each hero build. For example, a Paladin Tank or a Shadow Form Cleric.
  • 6 New conditions - Enlightened/Feared/Exposed/Retribution/Cursed & Untouchable.
  • New Turn Order card to streamline gameplay - This is to make AGI checks easier.
  • New tracking system for pets/allies to have multiple buffs/conditions  - This is to enhance the richness of these types of cards.
  • 2 New Scenarios - including trash mobs, bosses, loot items, quests, new exploration cards, event cards, action cards and more.
  • Mini Bosses -These will roam around the hexes. This is give more functionality to the hexes.
  • Plus lots more...

To stay updated with all expansion progress, be sure to add yourself to our newsletter if you didn't already tick the box on your backer kit survey back in 2022 allowing us to add your email address. We will notify all of those on our email list closer the time of launching our first expansion for Heroes of the Shire.

Volunteers

As you can see from our financial breakdown, this project hasn't been financially rewarding for us, so we're not in a position to hire staff. However, from time to time, we seek volunteers to help out in various ways. From rulebook proofreading and playtesting to helping demonstrate at exhibitions and adding some additional flavour to our action cards, we always welcome community involvement. If anyone is interested in offering their time to assist in any of these areas over the coming months, please join our Discord and make yourselves known.

Discord

You may have seen us advertising our Discord channel in previous updates, and here we are again! Discord really is the best way to contact and communicate with us, as well as other players of Heroes of the Shire. We have regular games together on TTS and physical webcam sessions, as well as chats about all things Heroes of the Shire. Come hang out with all 187 of us and join in the fun and games. Link below:

Website

We're still diligently working on our website! We hope this will become a portal for all things Heroes of the Shire, featuring an in-depth FAQ to address all your gameplay questions. Once the website is up and running, we'll be closing down the BackerKit store and migrating to the new e-commerce platform.

Thank You

One last big thank you from myself (Damian) to all of you who helped bring this project to light. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible support and belief in the project. Because of you, Heroes of the Shire has come to life and I couldn't have done it without you!

Thank You!

Update #63 - Fulfilment in many countries complete!
7 months ago – Fri, Apr 12, 2024 at 04:17:20 AM

Hi all,

We've had a very busy few weeks with games arriving all across the world! In this months update we have progress on fulfilment and the general state of the game after print, so lets dig in!

Photo sent in from a backer located in the US
Photo sent it from a UK backer that had their game personally delivered by Damian

Fulfilment

US Lane

Most of our US backers should have their game by now! If you still haven't received your game, feel free to reach out and we'll look into it for you.

Australia Lane

Our Australian backers were the first to receive their games, and all orders here should be complete. If you still haven't received your game, feel free to reach out and we'll look into it for you.

UK/EU Lane

We've had news from Spiral Galaxy, that 90% of our games have been dispatched now. With the remaining 65 orders going out today, so if you have not received yours yet, it should be on its way! Reach out if you have any issues.

Rest Of The World Lane

Most of our rest of the world orders were being shipped by QML, and were dispatched around the same time as our US backers! Many of our rest of the world backers should already have their game and if not, their game should be on their way with dispatched emails already sent out. If you still haven't had a dispatched email, reach out and we'll look into it for you. If you're in the middle-east, while classed as the rest of the world, your game will be dispatched from our EU/UK fulfilment centre, which should have gone out yesterday or today. Check your emails for dispatch from Spiral Galaxy.

Canada Lane

Our Canadian backers should have had a dispatch email from QML letting them know that their games are on route. This notification confirms that the games were collected from QML HQ and are in transit to Canada. Once they arrive, they will be fulfilled locally by FEDEX we believe, and the tracking numbers you received will then go live.

Asia Lane

Some of our Asian backers have had their orders sent out, while a few are still waiting. We can confirm that we have sent more stock back to Asia to fulfil these orders and they should start fulfilling over the coming weeks. Please see an update below on when games are due to arrive at certain Asian countries. You can see live updates here on the VFI Asia website if you look for Heroes of the Shire: https://vfi.asia/hubs/.If any of ous Asian backers have already received their game and would like to drop us a message below to confirm, that would be great, as VFI are very slow at updating us!

Shieldmaiden Reference Sheet

A few backers reached out to ask if we had a reference sheet for the Shieldmaiden. We did not print her one as she is not a core hero, however we have provided one below at the following link if you would like to print one out at home: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-d9PhMlIXaIT2P_vnwrgnvuJvsbYdrer/view?usp=sharing

On the note of reference sheets, we plan to give each boss a reference sheet of their own too. We will post an update once these become available.

Printed Errors

We've been open and transparent with our project all the way through with you guys, so why stop now? We've listed a few small errors in the game than we unfortunately missed before it went to print. We've learnt a few valuable lessons here, and will be sure not to repeat them again!

Tutorial Sheet: Upon reviewing the tutorial sheet, we discovered an error in Section 9, which teaches you how to add up the Huntress spell double shot. Unfortunately, the tutorial still states that the spell deals 2 DMG, whereas it has been upgraded to deal 3 DMG on the hero board. We understand that this discrepancy may cause frustration, especially as the tutorial is the first aspect of the game that players experience.

We want to assure you that despite this error, the tutorial sheet remains effective in teaching the basics of the game, including understanding a player's Hero Board. Also, after the first 10-15mins playthrough, the tutorial will never be used again, it's a one time use.

The error occurred due to last-minute balance change made to the Huntress. While we updated most of the game pieces to reflect these changes, unfortunately, the tutorial sheet was overlooked. A lesson learnt! Don't make last minute changes!

Please download our updated PDF tutorial here. Thank you.

True Solo Mode | Action Cards: It has come to our attention that some of the solo mode action cards have incorrect backs printed on them. We sincerely apologise for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. This was not the case with our master copy, as we have thoroughly checked it over and confirmed that all solo mode action cards have the correct backs. However, it seems that an error occurred during the mass production process, resulting in the Fire, Ice & Water solo mode action cards having incorrect backs, with the Earth scenario being unaffected.

To rectify this issue, use the front face of the cards to determine which scenario they are for. You can easily identify which action cards are meant for each scenario by examining the colour of the options on the cards: Fire scenario has red options, Water has dark blue options, and Ice has light blue options. Additionally, each card contains small text in the bottom left corner, such as "SAC - ICE 05/05," indicating that the card is a Solo Action Card (SAC) for the Ice scenario and is the fifth card out of five.

We want to assure you that this error does not affect gameplay in any way. However, for those of you not playing with sleeved cards, you may notice the incorrect backs when drawing cards from the deck. We understand that this may be disappointing, and we apologise for any inconvenience it may cause.

As a solution, please find the card backs here available to print off at home.

Upgrade Pack For Our Next KS: During our next Kickstarter later this year or early next year, for our first expansion, we will offer a free upgraded card park to backers of the OG campaign to correct these errors, giving you the best gaming experience we can with Heroes of the Shire. While we know this solution isn't ideal, it is the only viable way that makes sense financially. Once again, we apologise for these errors and thank you for your understanding.

Box Organisation

Here's a brief video of how we get everything back in the box.

Cards

For ease of setup, we recommend keeping the scenario cards together. Fire Scenario example, keep the Fire Trash Mobs, Fire Action Cards, Fire Boss Modification Cards, Fire Boss Ability Cards and the 1 Fire Event Card together, as shown below. Also see page 33 of the rulebook, title Packing The Game Away to remind you which cards are for each scenario. When you're next playing the game, and you select a scenario to play, you can simply grab all the components together.

These cards can then be stacked on top of each other in the left hand side of the game box. These cards should also fit in sleeved.

We also recommend keeping all the Hero Ability cards together, so when you select a hero to play, you can find the pile of Hero Ability cards and quickly find your particular pieces, if any.

The remaining cards that are not for each individual scenario can be kept together, which should include the Hero Ability Cards, Turn Order Cards, Reference Cards, Ally Cards & Quest Cards.

Hexes

After punching the Hexes, we recommend stacking them in order from number 1-X for each scenario. Then placing them underneath the cards in the left hand side of the box. We personally put the hexes in bags, as this allows for more friction, meaning they do not move around when we transport our games around, of which we do being the publisher.

Card Sleeves Advisory

For those of you who have opted to purchase the artwork sleeves, we recommend setting them aside for the initial few playthroughs of the game. Being able to see the card backs will assist players in quickly identifying cards, especially during the early stages of familiarising themselves with the game. As you become more familiar with the game, identifying cards from their front faces becomes significantly easier. Once you've become more acquainted with the cards, feel free to sleeve them all to your heart's content.

However, if you're like us and prefer to sleeve immediately, we suggest prioritising the cards that are frequently shuffled to provide them with extra protection. For the Collector's Edition, these cards include: 64 Action Cards, 64 Trash Mobs, and 10 Quest Cards.

Community

Don't forget to join our Discord to see what creative ways our community members have been coming up with when it comes to the organising of their game box. Link to our Discord server is here: https://discord.gg/ue7y4cpem6. See images below of what some of our most creative community members have been up to when it comes to arranging our game.

State Of The Game

Overall, we're thrilled with the current state of the game! While there are a few minor errors, we're embracing them as part of the learning process. After all, we're only human, and we're committed to continuously improving our standards.

As we reflect on this journey, we recognise that our expertise lies primarily in board game design rather than packaging and manufacturing. Moving forward, we're dedicated to honing our skills in these areas to deliver even better products in the future.

With each project, our knowledge and capabilities will continue to grow, and we're excited to see how this will positively impact our future endeavour's. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we evolve and improve.

BGG Rating Request

For those of you who have already had the chance to experience our game, we'd greatly appreciate your feedback on BoardGameGeek (BGG). Your honest rating out of 10 will provide valuable insights for us as we continue to develop our game.  https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/330617/heroes-of-the-shire

Website

We're still working away on our website, which will become a Heroes of the Shire hub! We are looking to include an in-depth FAQ covering all interactions between spells and abilities (with over 800 spells/abilities, there's a lot to cover!).

Heart Warming Thank You

We wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support in backing our first-time publisher board game on Kickstarter. Your decision to take the plunge and support our project means the world to us. It's because of backers like you that we are able to bring our creative vision to life and share it with the world. Your belief in us and our game inspires us to push the boundaries, strive for excellence, and deliver an experience that exceeded even our expectations.

As we embark on this adventure together, we want you to know that your support goes far beyond just funding. You are an integral part of our journey, and your enthusiasm, feedback, and encouragement drive us to do our very best every step of the way.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us and our game. We are incredibly grateful for your support, and we can't wait to share the magic of our expansion with you.

Here is an exclusive preview of our early stages of development for you all to see how far we've come over the last 3yrs.

What's Next For Senior Games?

Exciting times lie ahead for Senior Games as we continue to build upon the success of Heroes of the Shire and delve deeper into the enchanting world we've crafted. We have a few other titles planned, but over the next 12 months we plan to keep all our focus on Heroes of the Shire. While we're keeping details of our new content under wraps until closer to its completion, we couldn't resist giving you a teaser of what's to come.

Please note that we won't be responding to questions about the below images just yet. We want to keep the mystery alive and ensure that the big reveal is all the more thrilling when the time comes.

Work In Progress

Until Next Time

As our journey draws to a close and we near the completion of all fulfilment, we wanted to express our heartfelt gratitude for joining us on this adventure. Your support and enthusiasm have made all the difference, and we couldn't have done it without you.

If you'd like to stay connected, ask questions about the game, or even join us for a game on webcam or TTS, we invite you to join our Discord server: https://discord.gg/ue7y4cpem6. It's a space where our community comes together to share experiences, discuss strategies, and connect with fellow fans of Heroes of the Shire.

Thank you once again for being part of this incredible journey. We look forward to crossing paths again soon.

Warm regards,
Damian

Update #62 - Backer Fulfilment Begins
8 months ago – Fri, Mar 22, 2024 at 05:47:22 AM

Hello everyone,

We're now into the most exciting part of our project, delivery :) Shipping begins in some regions this week, with the rest to follow as our games are brought from the sea back to land. See below a break down of regions

Fulfilment

UK/EU

Our UK/EU lane had a small delay. Our goods were estimated to arrive March 13th, but their new ETA is March 25th. We have spoke to our UK/EU fulfilment centre directly over the phone and they have confirmed that these games will be shipped out immediately, so we're estimating end of March, early April for our UK/EU backers. Spiral Galaxy will do address verification before they ship out your game, any changes or issue with your address, contact us immediately or them when you receive their address verification. If your address is correct or hasn't changed in the last few years, then you have nothing more to do.

Important note: Our fulfilment centre wanted to make it very clear to us that if your game has not arrived within 10 days of you receiving a dispatch email, you need to contact them immediately. As a company they cannot process any refunds from the ground shipping providers if they file a complaint after 14 days, so this would need to be done before 14 days from you receiving the dispatch email. They recommend 10 days at the latest.

USA

Our games have arrived into the US yesterday :) QML plan to do their address verification today and let it run over the weekend. Any changes or issue with your address, contact us immediately or ideally contact them via their address verification. If your postal address is correct or hasn't changed in the last few years, then you have nothing more to do. QML are estimating that your games will be going out next week.

Asia

Our fulfilment centre made an error when stock allocating our games from the factory. They did not send enough games to Asia and have sincerely apologised to us. They are willing to rectify this error for us by sending games back to Asia once they arrive into the US, they have estimated some backer fulfilment being mid April. However, what stock was sent to Asia has already arrived with VFI Asia and they are packing up these orders right now as they started this process last week. Around 80% of backers in this region will receive their orders next week, and around 20% will be shipped once stock is sent back to VFI Asia from the US. The additional shipment of games will be by Air, so backers will not have to wait to long. Please accept our apologies.

VFI Asia are due to send us a master tracking list which will give us an ETA of each region within Asia. Once we have this we will post another update to give you more details. Please see the following details they sent us in the last correspondence below:

"Due to the process at VFI the transit time will vary for each region. They pack consolidated pallets for each lane and then those pallets leave when they are full or a certain time of month whichever comes first. The mainland shipments to each backer in CN, HK or MO will leave quickly via courier."

AU

The same issue occurred here as it did with Asia. However, the issue here was much smaller and we are only missing 2 games here to fulfil all orders right away. All other orders have been dispatched already, with messages sent out to backers. Around 98% of backers in this region will receive their orders over the next few days. The additional missing stock will be sent by Air, so those backers having to wait for stock to be sent back to Australia will not have to wait long. Please accept our apologies.

Aetherworks will do address verification before they ship out your game, any changes or issue with your address, contact us immediately or them when you receive their address verification. If your address is correct or hasn't changed in the last few years, then you have nothing more to do.

Damaged Goods

While we hope for minimal issues with our fulfilment services, we understand that occasionally, a game might arrive a little worse for wear. If your game does suffer any damage during transit, please take plenty of photos so we can promptly forward them to the responsible couriers. Please reach out to the shipping company via the dispatch email or address verification. While you can certainly contact us, please be aware that we may be inundated with emails and may not be able to address your issue as swiftly as we'd like. In all cases, we will ensure your concerns are forwarded to the fulfilment centre as they handle refunds on our behalf.

On a personal note, I must mention that I have a holiday planned from April 16th to May 1st. Last year, my daughter turned 18, and as a special celebration, I've arranged a trip for us. We're heading to Switzerland and Italy, with Zurich being our first stop on April 16th. If any backers in Zurich would like me to sign their game whilst in there, please feel free to reach out. Given the circumstances, I aim to limit my work during this time to ensure I don't detract from the experience for her. Therefore, if any issues arise during this time period related to shipping, please contact the shipping providers directly with any issues related to the shipping of your product. You will receive their details when they do their address verification just before they ship out your game. I've included details for each region below:

  • UK/EU - Spiral Galaxy
  • US - Quartermaster Logistics
  • Australia/NZ - Aetherworks
  • Asia - VFI Asia
  • South America - Quartermaster Logistics
  • Middle East - Spiral Galaxy

YouTube Tutorials

Next week we will work on a series of new videos that we will upload to our YouTube channel. These will include a how-to-play video, a packing the game away video, how to add the solo mode addon to the game and many more. The idea behind these videos is to help streamline your play throughs and setting up of the game. If you have any requests before now and then, drop them in the comments below. In the meantime don't forget to follow us on YouTube.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDI_DcFxgqZ3UFkJSgGs-HA

Contact Us

Discord - YES

The best and most efficient way to contact us is via Discord. While we know this isn't ideal for everyone, as it involves downloading and installing yet another social media app (if you don't already have it), but it allows us to include images in our messages with very little limitations. Our Discord community is active, with many members regularly posting. If you have any questions while playing the game, simply hop onto Discord and ask; I'm sure somebody will be able to assist you, even if we're unavailable.. See below a link to our Discord channel.

https://discord.gg/ue7y4cpem6

Kickstarter - YES

Please don't reach out to us with issues in the comments section. It's easy for us to miss these or forget about them. If you want to reach out to us via Kickstarter please do so via Direct Message.

Facebook - NO

Please don't reach out to us via Facebook. Over the last 12 months, since running some adverts for Heroes of the Shire, our business page is constantly bombarded with spam messages, mostly fake accounts trying to get us to click random links etc... but we're getting around 10 messages per day. So if you message us on Facebook, it's very likely that we will miss it, instead please use Kickstarter or Discord.

Artwork Error

Over the past few weeks of playing with our mass production copy of the game, we've discovered an error that we need to bring to your attention. First and foremost, please accept our sincere apology for this oversight; we're unsure how it slipped past us.

The issue pertains to the icon for the HEAD loot items on the cards. While we updated the icon on the cards themselves, we neglected to do so on the equipment board. Consequently, following the rules may lead players to believe they cannot equip head items to any slot on the equipment board due to the mismatched icons.

However, we urge you to use your intuition in this matter. Regardless of the icon disparity, any head item should be equipped in the designated head item slot on the equipment board. To assist you in identifying the correct matching icons, we've highlighted them in green in the image of the equipment board provided below. Additionally, we've indicated our error with red highlights.

Thank You

Our games will be arriving all across the world over the next few days/weeks, and we couldn't be more proud! We hope that each of you finds some enjoyment with our game. We understand that opinions may vary—some of you will love it, some may not, and others may find it just okay—and that's perfectly fine! We appreciate each and every one of you for helping bring this game to light. Without your support, this idea would have remained just a dream. But now, with your help, we are able to share our first board game with the world.

Thank you once again for being part of this journey with us!

Update #61 - Home Stretch
9 months ago – Fri, Mar 01, 2024 at 05:31:54 AM

Hello everyone,

We hope you're all settled into 2024 now and are as excited as we are for the coming months! We don't have much to update you on at present, but what we do know, we have relayed below.

Fulfilment

EU Lane

Our product is still on the water and estimated to arrive in the UK on March 13th. Fingers crossed that there are no port delays, as we leave for a convention here in the UK on March 14th, so having the product with us there would be great. The fulfilment centre has informed us that our games will be catalogued and ready to ship out immediately. For EU fulfilment, we're estimating the end of March or early April. If we fulfil a little earlier, that's a nice bonus.

US Lane

Our product is still on the water and estimated to arrive in the US at the end of March. For US fulfilment, we're estimating early to mid-April.

Achievement Sheets

During the later stages of development of our Rulebook, we decided to remove the Achievement sheets from within it. We felt they would be better as printouts for those who want them. We have uploaded them to our Google Drive, for those who are interested, you can find them by CLICKING HERE or by clicking the Achievement images below. We recommend printing them out on regular A4 paper and cutting them across the dotted cut lines. If you have the collectors edition game, you will need both Achievement sheets.

Black and White version here if you want to save on printing ink. Click on the image below to access the file.

Tutorial Sheet

Since our tutorial sheet is arguably the most important piece of paper in the game box for the first 15 minutes, we have created a black and white version available to anyone with visual impairments or for those who prefer this version. CLICK HERE or on the image below to find the B/W version of our Tutorial Sheet. Please note that our game includes a coloured version of this tutorial sheet, so you do not need to print this out unless you prefer to use this particular version.

Community Engagement

We've had a few backers reach out to share their plans for when the game arrives, so we'd like to highlight some of that with you all in regards to our community and their activities.

  • Freehawks Discord Server: These folks have a large Dice Throne community and are also planning to support Heroes of the Shire. Players there will typically engage in games over webcam with occasional Tabletop Simulator (TTS) matches thrown in. Here's a link to their server for anyone interested: Freehawks Discord Server.
  • German YouTuber Matthias: Matthias will be featuring our game on his channel. You can find him here: Matthias' Channel or Matthias' YouTube Channel.
  • Discord Member TheNoblestKitten: TheNoblestKitten plans to write strategy articles spotlighting certain heroes, including their key spells and other heroes they synergise well with.

If you have some content planned and would like to share it with us, drop a comment below or send us a direct message.

Light & Shadow Teasers

As some of you may know, in our spare time, we've been slowly working on our newest installment of Heroes of the Shire, Light & Shadow. We don't want to give away too much yet since everything is still a work in progress, but here are a few teasers.

  • 4th Spell Mastery Column: Need we say anymore....
  • 6 New Conditions: Feared, Enlightened, Cursed, Untouchable, Exposed, Retribution.
  • New Hero: The longer this guy sticks around, the more pets that arrive with him each round. Has the ability to mount one of his pets, temporarily leaving his hero board and playing as the mounted pet card.
  • New Hero: One that can reverse the turn order, favouring those heroes with lower AGI values. If you're a Pokémon player, think Trick Room.

UK Exhibitions

We are excited to announce that we'll be attending the Airecon gaming exhibition this month, followed by the UK Games Expo (UKGE) in May/June. At these events, we'll be showcasing our game and finally offering it for sale to the general public. We will be doing away with our old prototypes and finally show casing the real product this year which we're excited for. If any of our wonderful backers are attending these conventions and would like to stop by to say hello and show support for our game, you're most welcome!

Until Next Time

The wait for Heroes of the Shire is coming to an end, we're closing in on the last hurdle now, which is backer fulfilment. We'll be back with another update as soon as we hear back from the fulfilment centres letting us know that the games have arrived with them safely. Thank you all for your patience and we're super excited for you to finally get your hands on our game. Your support has been heart-warming to say the least.

Update #60 - Locking In Addresses & Charge Date To Be Brought Forward
10 months ago – Fri, Jan 26, 2024 at 09:07:40 AM

Hi all,

Following up on our morning update, we mentioned locking in backer postal addresses and charging BackerKit accounts for the £5 payment on February 23rd. Unfortunately, our shipping partners have informed us that this timeline is too late, and they need our data urgently to arrange backer fulfillment. Some of our games are arriving in Asia and Australia earlier than the US/UK. Therefore, we apologise for any confusion we may have caused, but we need to move up the post address locking and £5 charge date to February 9th, which is two weeks from today.

Exciting times ahead as we start fulfilment :)

Please accept our apologies, trying to schedule these things isn't as easy as one would expect.

Best wishes,
Heroes of the Shire
